Our Process

At every stage of a project, we work closely with our clients, empowering them to achieve their goals by leveraging our extensive expertise. Our collaborative process ensures successful outcomes that positively impact both the community and the environment.

Planning and Project Management

Using Primavera P6 and advanced cost management tools, we streamline project delivery. Our approach ensures projects run smoothly and stay on track with performance and budget goals.

Design and Engineering

Our skilled design team creates tailored solutions for complex treatment challenges. Advanced modelling, from M&E design to 3D Building Information Modelling, allows us to deliver high-quality solutions efficiently and on time while minimizing costs and environmental impact.

Procurement and Contracting

We work with our extensive network of long-term partners and trusted contractors and suppliers to select the best technologies and ensure smooth integration, cost-effective resource management, and efficient project delivery.

Construction and Implementation

We oversee construction and implementation with a focus on safe and timely delivery. Our key strength lies in facilitating smooth, timely, and cost-effective delivery while maintaining quality and compliance. All projects are delivered to the highest health and safety standards embracing the principles of Anglian Water's "Safer Every Day" and Uisce Éireann's "AM I SAFE" policies.

Commissioning and Testing

Our robust commissioning and testing processes ensure systems are fully operational, providing a smooth transition and ongoing support for long-term project success.

For the majority of projects, we continue to operate and maintain the assets post-completion. Our expert operational teams employ a Lean Six Sigma approach to continuous optimisation, ensuring clients achieve optimal performance from their assets, maximising both efficiency and lifespan.

Managing Project Delivery alongside Operations

Clients like Uisce Éireann and NI Water choose CAW for our proven ability to maintain high operational standards during complex upgrades at major wastewater treatment plants.

Our approach is uniquely focused on the effective management of multiple stakeholders on-site, whilst maintaining compliance and operational excellence. We have dedicated Interface Engineers who coordinate operational teams, project teams, and contractors. Through structured coordination meetings, regular contact, reporting, and streamlined permit and handover processes, we ensure seamless operations and timely project delivery. When challenges arise, we collaborate closely to develop solutions that protect operational performance and compliance.

A collaborative approach

A prime example of our collaborative approach is the execution of Ireland's largest over-pumping exercise at the Ringsend plant, where CAW is responsible for treating over 50% of Ireland’s wastewater. This effort involved bypassing the pumping station, to enable the construction of an upgrade that would allow further work without disruption to plant operations. Following months of planning, our team successfully diverted 150,000m³ of water at a rate of 2m³ per second over just two days. This impressive feat allowed processing to continue uninterrupted, while essential upgrades were completed.

Typically, plant shutdowns for such work are limited to under 4 hours due to restricted capacity in storm tanks. However, this innovative approach provided the maintenance team with over 12 hours per day to complete upgrades, preventing any discharge of primary screened effluent into the Liffey. It was a significant achievement in both planning and execution by our dedicated team.
